Grupo Energía Bogotá is aware of the importance of continuously ensuring the adoption of Good Governance practices that contribute to the proper management of its affairs in relation to its shareholders, improving information disclosure mechanisms, and ensuring that the Group's management carries out its work in accordance with societal expectations. This builds trust in the Company among citizens and ensures the fulfillment of specific commitments to the various Stakeholder Groups involved in its management.

 

According to the provisions of the Corporate Governance Code of the GEB, control mechanisms can be external or internal, depending on their nature.

External control mechanisms

Superintendence of Public Utilities

GEB is subject to control, inspection and oversight by the Superintendence of Household Public Utility Services in compliance with Law 142 of 1994.

Among others, this institution is responsible for evaluating the information systems Public Utility Companies must organize and keep updated for their presentation of financial, technical and administrative management to the public to be reliable.

 

Comptroller’s Office of Bogotá D.C.

The Comptroller’s Office of Bogotá D.C. exercises oversight and fiscal control over GEB through the Energy Oversight Department, which is a part of the Public Utility Oversight Department.

In accordance with Articles 267, 268, and 272 of the Political Constitution, Agreement 658 of 2016 of the Bogotá D.C. Council, Law 42 of 1993, and Regulatory Resolutions No. 021 of 2023 and 036 of 2023 of the Bogotá D.C. Comptroller's Office.

General Auditing

The General Audit of the Group, through assurance and advisory activities, assists Grupo Energía Bogotá in achieving its objectives in an independent and objective manner, based on a systematic approach to evaluation and issuing recommendations to contribute to the improvement of the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
