Graduated in Law and Socioeconomic Sciences from the Javeriana University of Bogotá, with a Master's Degree in Comparative Jurisprudence from the University of Texas, United States, and Specialization in Economic Law from the Externado de Colombia University.

She was Minister of Transportation, Minister of Foreign Trade; president of Proexport; Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, and Vice President of the Colombian Association of Flower Exporters.
